Care and Maintenance of metal sinks (Copper, Brass, Bronze, Stainless, Pewter) With or without a fine art patina finish.

Remember most art sinks are one-of-a-kind made to order.

First and foremost keep any chemicals and abrasives away (no ajax, brillo pads, or pumice products).  This includes sodium, fruit acids, paint, cosmetics, acidic cleaning agents. Basically no prolonged contact of any chemical with sink is best.  Simply wash with soap and water quickly, dry with a soft cloth and buff to a shine.

Also, take care not to drop heavy items or shop objects into your sink

Copper has a natural antibacterial action and allowing the natural chemical changes will give the sink a unique patina appearance.

A liquid car wax or Johnson paste wax may be used to further protect your sink.  Apply, leave on several minutes then buff to a clear shine.  This should be done weekly depending on use. This will also help prevent some scratching.

If you feel you must deep clean, mix 1 tsp. of salt with 1 cup white vinegar, spread throuhgout then vigorously buff to a shine.

Sodium creates big problems with sinks.  Consequently, watersoftners can definitly damage the finish on all plumbing fixtures like faucets, sinks, toilets, any decorative items having a custom hand rubbed finish or patina can be damaged.  We have seen oil-rubbed bronze finishes, for example, destroyed from sodium sources.

So now that you can properly care for your metal sink you may enjoy years of its natural beauty.

There is absolutely no substitute for clean, clear, pure water.  It is this legacy that World of Sinks and Green Leaf Kitchen and Bath Products will promote, nurture and advocate.
